    The Director of Purchasing is responsible for providing direct leadership to all Purchasing operations.  The Director interfaces with stakeholders and collaborates with a variety of other functional areas in order to deliver program and company results that achieve business goals and objectives. This position reports to the Executive Vice President.

    Responsibilities

    • Analyze and report the progress of the company toward attainment of established purchasing and inventory goals
    • Assist with the development of company departmental organizational policies and goals
    • Responsible for the communication, interpretation and implementation of the approved policies and goals within the Purchasing Department
    • Direct the purchasing managers in the implementation of the corporate and regional goals and policies; interpret company policies as needed
    • Responsibility for the Purchasing Department operations
    • Ensure the operation of the company purchasing department is in accordance with the values, principles, vision, mission and policies of First Supply LLC and meets all legal requirements
    • Prepare, submit for approval and oversee implementation of department budget; analyze regularly the effectiveness of operations toward achieving financial goals and take prompt corrective action as needed
    • Negotiate company programs to include all terms, conditions and rebates
    • Develop and maintain key vendor relationships and support the development of relationships of vendors assigned to Product Managers
    • Develop, evaluate and oversee implementation of company purchasing plans
    • With the Sales & Marketing Product Managers, oversee the product line selection offered and develop existing strategies on line conversations
    • Provide input to the General Managers as to the impact of company programs to ensure that each facility maximizes financial opportunities through support of preferred vendors
    • Select, evaluate and mentor Purchasing Managers and department staff to achieve and sustain superior results
    • Promote equal opportunity and affirmative action employment practices
    • Set and clearly communicate accountability parameters for department
    • Delegate adequate authority to staff to carry out their responsibilities
    • Develop all departmental management activities including selection, training and performance evaluations
    • Collaborate with and support all facility staff members
    • Participate in outside professional activities which are advantageous toward enhancing the prestige of the company
    • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications

    • College degree required; Graduate degree preferred
    • Demonstrated experience in purchasing with progressive levels of responsibility
    • Experience managing and directing staff to achieve superior results
    • Advanced computer knowledge and skills with the ability to learn First Supply LLC’s business system
    • Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Excel and Word
