The Corporate Safety Manager works in close cooperation with all levels of management and administration to minimize loss and maximize productivity through the continuing development and improvement of applicable Safety and OSHE (Occupational, Health, Safety, and Environmental) Programs. They are the primary point of contact for all Safety and Occupational, Health, Safety, and Environmental related safety issues across the entire enterprise. This person is also responsible for interfacing with all federal, state, local, and international safety investigative agencies.  



  • Promote safety and safety programs as a core value in order to maintain a positive corporate safety culture. 
  • Provides direction and support for activities related to safety and occupational health and safety on a company-wide basis. 
  • Work with senior management (and external specialists as necessary) to direct the development of an effective corporate strategy to assess and mitigate strategic and operational safety and security-related threats/risks, manage crises and incidents, and safeguard the organization. 
  • Develop an on-going risk assessment process, manage risk assessments and reviews to identify risks in the organization, evaluate mitigation options to reduce or eliminate the risks and finally implement the appropriate strategies to reduce risks going forward.
  • Conducts Incident and Accident investigations as required and serves as the primary point of contact with the DOT and OSHA. 
  • Attends meetings that require risk management evaluations across the entire enterprise. 
  • Facilitates open and candid safety-related communications with all frontline employees in an effort to improve safety outcomes. 
  • Presents safety analysis and data to insurance groups and marketing prospects when required. 
  • Develops and implements Annual Safety Training to all employees. 
  • Provides timely safety data analysis to the Senior Management Team. 
  • Conducts operational safety audits. 
  • Represents the “company” in grievance procedure with safety related issues. 
  • Identifies quarterly and annual goals and objectives for each facility
  • Ensures that facility H&S leaders are adequately performing monthly audits & identifying risks at the facility
  • Coaches and mentors facility H&S leaders to drive positive safety culture
  • Assists the facility H&S leaders with analyzing the safety data at each facility and developing action plan to address
  • Responsible for leading and implementing corporate-wide safety projects
  • Ensures that all facility management are adequately trained to identify hazards and to properly evaluate non-routine tasks
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the Director of Human Resources. 


  • Demonstrated success in a management position, preferably in a wholesale distribution environment. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety (or the equivalent) or Bachelor's degree combined with relevant work experience. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of distribution and transportation environments, DOT (Department of Transportation) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirements. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to create and deliver training presentations. 
  • Effective problem solving skills. 
  • Strong computer skills and database management experience, including but not limited to intermediate Excel, Outlook, and MS Word. 
  • Ability to prioritize work. 
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Must be able to travel up to 50%.
  • High energy, drive and sense of urgency.

    Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or International Society of Safety Professionals (ISSP) certification. 
    Preferred: Safety management course. Training on Human factors and Accident /Incident investigation techniques. 
  • Ability to be bonded as defined by First Supply Group’s fidelity bond insurance carrier
  • Satisfactory score on the Wonderlic Personnel Test and/or Caliper Assessment
  • Valid drivers license and a driving record which meets underwriting standards
  • Ability to read, speak, understand and write English
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure
  • Attendance on a regular and consistent basis
