Overview:   Under the overall direction of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level.  This position is primarily responsible for the following functional areas:  employee relations, training, onboarding, and employee recognition.  The Generalist may also be involved in assisting with the development, implementation, administration, training, tracking and communication of all human resources policies and programs including compensation, performance management and HR-related compliance.

 

Building a close, friendly and professional relationship with the employees and management through the executive level is key to the success of this position. In addition the development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, high performance and personal ongoing development.

 

Responsibilities

  • Partners with employees and management to communicate various HR policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
  • Training
  • Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works
  • Confers with management to gain knowledge of work situation requiring training
  • Recommends internal and external training resources
  • Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstration, conferences, meetings and workshops
  • LMS Administration
  • Conduct new hire orientation
  • Conduct open enrollment presentations
  • Coaches, counsels and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions
  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs
  • Assists with employee engagement survey and related action steps
  • Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decision and results of department in relation to established goals
  • General HR related administrative duties, including preparation of correspondence, photocopying, fax transmission, etc.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the HR Director

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years previous HR generalist experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent work experience in HR-related functions)
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred
  • Training experience required
  • LMS experience required
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills, written and verbal
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication, presentation and organizational skills required
  • Ability to adhere to and meet deadlines in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Ability to escalate issues proactively and in a timely manner
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Great listening skills, able to take direction, open to change and eager to learn
  • Works well independently, yet is cooperative in working with team members
  • Satisfactory score on the Wonderlic Personnel Test and/or Caliper Assessment
  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record which meets underwriting standards
